Welcome to the UCLA Delta Gamma website! My name is Julia Kocsis, and I have the distinct privilege of serving as chapter president. I am an incoming senior at UCLA, pursuing a double major in Psychobiology and Neuroscience. Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, I’ve spent much of my life moving between states and even a few countries. Outside of academics and Delta Gamma, I am actively involved in the TIMMY Global Health Club, serve as Co-Director of CampMed, volunteer in the Sears Research Lab, and intern with a plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills. While my days are filled with a range of responsibilities, I’m deeply grateful for the support system that Delta Gamma provides. The sisterhood has truly been my foundation, and I couldn’t imagine my collegiate journey any other way.
Joining Delta Gamma has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. The sisterhood is defined by genuine connection, laughter, and unwavering support. As someone who came to UCLA from out of state, I was immediately struck by the authenticity and warmth I encountered within this remarkable group of women. Each member brings something unique to the table, whether it’s her academic passion, artistic talent, or leadership capability, and together, our differences make us stronger. What I value most about this sisterhood is the way we uplift one another, no matter our personal or professional pursuits—whether in science, the arts, engineering, journalism, or beyond, there is always a network of women here ready to support and encourage you. This is the core of who we are, and it fills me with pride to be part of this chapter.
At Delta Gamma, we are guided by the shared mission of “Doing Good.” We live this through our involvement on campus, our volunteer efforts across Los Angeles, and our annual philanthropic initiative, Service for Sight. We are fortunate to partner with the Blind Children’s Center here in Los Angeles, where we have the opportunity to make a tangible impact. Our signature event, Anchor Splash, is a highly anticipated synchronized swimming competition held at Sunset Recreation Center, where friends, Greek life members, and campus organizations come together in support of our cause. It’s an event that highlights the unity of our community and allows us to raise significant funds for Service for Sight.
Life within Delta Gamma is filled with memorable moments and cherished traditions. Whether it’s enjoying breakfast together in the dining room before class, spending time on the sun porch, gathering for chapter dinners, or taking evening walks to nearby coffee shops, the daily rhythm of life in our chapter is rich with connection and camaraderie. Our home is more than just a place—it’s a source of comfort and joy, complete with the most breathtaking views of the LA skyline at sunset.
Serving as president of the Alpha Sigma chapter has been an extraordinary honor. It has given me the chance to grow not only as a leader but also as an individual. Through this role, I’ve come to understand the true meaning of friendship, selflessness, and empathy. The love and kindness that flow through this sisterhood have shaped me in ways I will always carry forward. When I look at this chapter, I see a home filled with possibility, strength, and endless potential. I am immensely proud to call myself a Delta Gamma, and I look forward to seeing what this year holds for all of us.
